and Abigail's eldest brother, Richard, explored the vacinity of
modern day Unadilla, New York accompanied by an Indian guide.
After the exploratory trip, Tmothy moved the family to an area
known as Wattle's Landing to settle on lands owned by Honorable
Monson Betts. Timothy drowned on a canoe trip on the
Susquehanna River to modern day Athens, New York. The
body was discovered by Indians. Family histories indicate
they believed that Timothy was killed by a fellow traveler in
