Samuel McKie

Samuel McKie, son of Edgar McKie and Mary Elizabeth Smith, was born January 14, 1867 in Gloversville, Fulton County, New York and died March 18, 1948 in Densmore, Norton County, Kansas.  

He married Matha Jane "Mattie" Lee on September 28, 1900 in Minden, Nebraska.  (See wedding photograph and license)

Occupations : Farmer in Lincoln Township, Norton County, Kansas until 1941.   See farm location.

Land:  Purchased 160 acres of Lincoln Township land in 1884 (see deed) and an additional 80 acres adjacent land (see deed) from his parents in 1900. 

Residences: As young boy, Sam moved with his family from New York to Missouri.  Later, they moved to Republic County, Kansas.  In 1880, Sam moved to Norton County where he purchased land and farmed for all of his adult life.  His original house was a sod house (see photograph).

Burial : Edmund Cemetery, Norton County, Kansas.  (See photograph)

Martha Jane "Mattie" Lee

Martha Jane Lee, daughter of Jesse Urias Lee and Nancy Jane Mooney, was born January 18, 1875 in Phillips County, Kansas and died May 20, 1965  in Norton, Norton County, Kansas.

Lula Faye McKie was born April 9, 1896 in Phillips County, Kansas and died on September 7, 1974 in Norton, Norton County, Ks. 

Mary Eva Marie McKie current resides in Norton, Kansas.  She married Francis William Hewett on November 30, 1935 in Mankato, Kansas.
