James Harvey Damewood

James Harvey Damewood, son of Elvin Damewood and Nancy Minerva McFerrin, was born October 2, 1858 in Dubois County, Indiana and died January 23, 1946 in Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.  

He married Lillian Bolton on March 2, 1884 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa.

Life and Residences: He was born and raised in Dubois County, Indiana until he was 9 years when the family moved to Page County, Iowa.  In 1880, at the age of 21, James was living with and work on the farm of the John Leggett family in Nebraska township, Page County, Iowa.  James, Lillian and two children moved to Kansas from Iowa by train in 1890.  They settled in Belmont Township, Phillips County where James farmed.

Religion:  Methodist

Burial : Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.

Lillian Bolton, daughter of  William Henry Bolton and Eleanor Hare, was born April 17, 1866 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and died October 8, 1950 in Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.

Residences:  When she was a small child she moved with her family to Virginia where the lived until her father died in 1879.  They returned to Futhrie County, Iowa after June 3, 1880, date of the census, to make their home.  After her mother died in 1881, she was responsible for the care of her five younger children when she was 15 years old.  After her marriage to James Damewood in 1884, they continued to live in Iowa till 1890 when the family moved to Phillips County, Kansas near Speed.

Religion:  Methodist

Burial : Prairie View Cemetery, Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.

Twin sons died in infancy.

Effie Mable Damewood was born January 10, 1887 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa and died on February 22, 1963 in Phillipsburg, Phillips County, Kansas.  She married Albert Swanson on November 27,1912 in Phillipsburg.

Jessie Madrid Damewood was born March 29, 1888 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa and died on November 15, 1969 in Marietta, Georgia.  She married Joseph Patton on October 2, 1910.

Zona Minerva Damewood was May 13, 1890 in rural Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on May 30, 1973 in Phillipsburg, Phillips County, Kansas.  She married Cifric Swanson  on October 13, 1913. 

Alta Louisa Damewood was born March 24, 1892 in rural Speed, Phillips County, Kansas and died January 20, 1964 in Norton, Norton County, Kansas.   (For details follow link on name.)

Ivory Ellsworth Damewood was born February 22, 1894 in rural Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on March 18, 1973 in Stockton, Rooks County, Kansas.  He married Ida Griffin September 30, 1931 in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Ora Heaton Damewood was born August 22, 1896 in Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on September 15, 1954 in Hays, Ellis County, Kansas.  He married Sadie Francis on November 21, 1929.

Orville Bertram Damewood was born August 19, 1898 in Big Bend (Speed) and died on April 14, 1983 in  Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.

Ora Heaton Damewood was born August 22, 1896 in Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on September 15, 1954 in Hays, Ellis County, Kansas.  He married Sadie Francis on November 21, 1929.

Eva Pearl Damewood was born July 3, 1900 in Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on May 24, 1924.  She married Ira Ray September 8, 1922.

James William Damewood was born October 30, 1903 in Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on July 18, 1965 in Hays, Ellis County, Kansas.  He married Emma Francis on May 28, 1923.

Olla "Ollie" Emeline Damewood was born March 18, 1908 in Big Bend (Speed), Phillips County, Kansas and died on January 15, 1985.  See married William "Bill" Earl Reynolds on December 4, 1935.
