Elvin Damewood

Elvin Damewood, son of Nathan Damewood and Mary Henderson, was born June 28, 1829 in Tennessee and died December 11, 1865 in Dubois County, Indiana.  

He married Nancy Minerva McFerrin on June 28, 1849 in Dubois County, Indiana. 

Other events in the life of Elvin Damewood

Military: Volunteered for Civil War service on 1 August 1862 and mustered out on 22 June 1865 of Company K, 65th Indiana Infantry Regiment.  He promoted from private to corporal during the war.  (see military service record). (see photograph)

Nancy Minerva McFerrin, daughter of James H. McFerrin and Sarah Clapp, was born May 17, 1832 in Knox County, Tennessee and died January 9, 1913.

Her childhood was in Knox County, Tennessee.  In 1848, her family moved to Dubois County, Indiana where she met and married Elvin Damewood.  After the death of her husband shortly after the Civil War, she moved to Page County, Iowa where she met and married Daniel Duncan September 28, 1870. 

Religion: Methodist Episcopal Christian

Burial:  Shearer cemetery, Buchanan Township, Page County, Iowa

William Thomas Damewood PhotographWilliam Thomas Damewood was born May 17, 1851 and died on August 15, 1938 in Clarinda, Iowa.  He married Emma C. Collins on Nov. 21, 1878 in Siam, Iowa.  

Harriet Emeline Damewood was born March 19, 1853 and died on May 22, 1912.  She married Lee Scrivner.

Sarah Damewood was born May 21, 1856 and died on March 27, 1890

James Harvey Damewood ThumbnailJames Harvey Damewood was born October 2, 1858 in Dubois County, Indiana and died January 23, 1946 in Logan, Phillips County, Kansas.  

Isaac Henry Damewood was born April 10, 1861 and died on March 31,1862.

Elvin P Damewood ThumbnailElvin Powell "Ebb" Damewood was born February 13, 1863 in Dubuis County, Indiana and died on April 18, 1946 in Clarinda, Iowa.  He married Anna Nanna Welch in 1895 and Emma Marie Welch in 1905.

Levi Damewood was born July 26, 1866 and died August 19, 1866.
